Durden-Hudson Funeral Directors announces the death of William Joseph “Joey” Allen, 42, of Midville, on December 31, 2023, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. Graveside services were conducted Friday, January 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Union Grove Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Randy Carnley officiating with burial followed in the cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Allen, Holt Allen “Bubba”, Cory Freeman, Tillis Jackson, Jack Allen, Lemar Crews, Jacob Moody and Waylon Brown. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Ridgeway Masonic Lodge #104, Garfield.
Born in Augusta, Joey was the son of James Kenneth, Sr. and Elizabeth George Allen. He grew up in Jefferson County and later moved to Emanuel County where he met the love of his life, Peggy, and they started their family. Joey was a member of the Union Grove Methodist Church and also of the Ridgeway Masonic Lodge #104. He was a truck driver for many years and took pride in his truck, which he affectionately named, “Blue”. Although Joey was a little rough around the edges, he was a jokester and was fun to be around. He loved his wife deeply, as well as his children and his grandbabies. Joey loved the Lord with all his heart. No matter the circumstance or situation, he would always say, “It’s a beautiful day, Praise the Lord”. Mr. Allen is preceded in death by his parents; aunt, Vivian Trawick “Aunt V”; and uncle, Jack Trawick.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Peggy Donaldson Allen; daughters, Kristen Freeman (Cory) of Twin City, Katie Brandon (Brandon) of Statesboro, Vivian Allen “Birdie”, Abby Allen and Elizabeth Allen “Biskit”, all of Midville; sons, Jacob Moody of Albany and Jackson Allen of Midville; brothers, Kenneth Allen (Autumn) of Alexander and Holt “Bubba” Allen of Midville; grandchildren, Lexi Freeman, Chloe Freeman, Waylon Brown and Ellie Gwinett; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his honor to: The College Fund for Elizabeth Allen at Durden Banking Company at any of their four locations.
