What were you thinking?

That’s a question most of us have heard at one time or another. It’s usually not asked to really get an answer. Usually, it’s asked just to make a point, and that point is definitely not about how smart you are. In this particular situation, however, I am honestly asking an important question to get an honest answer. I know it’s Christmas time, the season of goodwill, but Mr. President Biden, what were YOU thinking when you decided that we should not enforce the laws of this country concerning people who illegally cross our borders? What were you thinking last week when more than 12,700 people disregarded U.S. law and came into this country in the course of one day? Yes sir, that’s correct. You shattered the all-time, 24-hour record for illegal immigration. So, you win the trophy big guy! You can put it in the garage right beside the Corvette. Your cabinet and staff deserve credit too. Of course, whenever they are asked how Trump was able to successfully control the border, they automatically break into a chorus of the same old song. “Oh, the last administration created a terrible mess and left it for us to clean up,” they croon. Really? At the end of Trump’s administration, illegal immigration was at the lowest point it had been in nearly 50 years. Then, the Biden administration came into office, overturned most of Trump’s policies on immigration, and within months, the worst immigration crisis to ever hit the nation was underway. That crisis is now three years old and has accounted for ten million illegal crossings with 1.8 million “got aways” since Biden became President. Since then, one failure after another has been the story of the Southern border. First came the appointment of V.P. Kamala Harris as the “so-called” Border Czar, then the program of record-breaking foreign aid to the Central American countries of the Northern Triangle, then the Immigration Summit meeting with Joe Biden and his “close friend”, the President of Mexico and on and on and nothing happened. Now, the situation continues to become dramatically worse, and this country seems powerless to bring it under control.

The next logical question to ask the President would be, “Mr. President, are you not aware of this crisis, or are you not competent enough to fix this problem, or is this part of an intentional design to achieve a policy goal that you want to keep quiet about?” More and more, the most plausible explanation seems to lie in the weeds of political and economic power. The power of the liberal wing of the Democratic party relies heavily on the social programs of big government for its appeal and base support, and the corporate side of the Democratic party relies on cheap, abundant, labor to keep hourly wages down and profits up. With Biden’s open border policy, the Democrats get it all. Last week, I watched the news as long freight trains coming out of Mexico headed into the United States. I don’t know what products were inside those rail cars but perched on top of each car were hundreds of migrating people hanging on for dear life. The trains are owned by BNSF, Burlington Northern Santa Fe which is the largest railroad company in the United States. It is now privately owned, and the majority stockholder is Mr. Warren Buffet. He is one of the wealthiest men in the country and a corporate contributor to the Democratic party. You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to see the value to the Democrats of having cheap, plentiful labor from Mexico, China, Russia, Angola, Ghana or India or any of the other 109 countries that are continuously sending immigrants to the United States to swell the ranks of the Democratic party. They come every day by train, by boat, by bus, and they come because President Joe Biden continues to allow them to come. 169 of them have come even though they were listed on the FBI Terrorist Watchlist. They are here now Mr. President, and if you don’t think that more and more are coming from groups like Hamas and Hezbollah and the Houthis, call somebody at the Pentagon. Mr. President, it is YOUR job to protect and defend this nation. A country that has no control over its borders will soon have no control, period. Our message to the world should be: if you wish to come to America, you must respect the laws of America, and Mr. Biden, if you wish to lead the United States of America, you should do the same.
