The “Veterans at the Library” were busy in recent days attending all the Emanuel County School System Veterans Day events. Five schools hosted Veterans Day presentations in tribute to those who have served in our nation’s military. At 12 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 31 Veterans enjoyed a luncheon at the Twin City Elementary School and were entertained by the TCE singing group. At 1:30 p.m., they arrived at the ECI auditorium where they listened to the ECI High School band play, and a program was presented by the students. On Friday, November 8, at 12 p.m., 25 Veterans arrived at Swainsboro High School for an outstanding luncheon and watched the famous Swainsboro High School Color Guard post the colors. Then on Monday, November 11, at 11:30 a.m., 45 veterans arrived at the Swainsboro Elementary School for a great luncheon and listened to the Elementary School Student program. At 12:30 p.m., 45 Veterans arrived at the Swainsboro Middle School where the veterans were treated to 20 “wax figures”. When they stepped on a star on the floor in front of each figure, it would come alive and recite what soldier they were, a little about the soldier, what war they fought in and when they died. Emanuel County students impressed each one of the veterans with their participation and the respect they have for our history.
