Veterans at the Library met Monday, April 8. They had one new veteran attend, Veteran Alfred Gregary Perry. Perry served in the U.S. Army from June 20, 1977, to June 21, 1980. He served with Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Signal Battalion at Fort Jackson, SC, Fort Lee, VA, Fort Dix, NJ and Kaiserslautern, Germany. Perry’s highest rank was SP/4. Chair Johnny reminded them about the Fishing Derby to be held at The Herrington Homestead, 8109 Hwy 297, Nunez, on April 27, from 7:30 until 11:30 a.m. and is open to kids age six to sixteen. Lunch will be served at the pond. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., weigh-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and cash prize awarded for the heaviest, longest, and most fish. ONLY 18 teams of four golfers each will be able to enter. As of Monday, April 8, 11 teams have already registered, and it’s first come, first enter.
