The Tigers chalked up a big 9-2 win over the Vidalia Indians this past Thursday, February 15, with a steady performance from the word go. Swainsboro was first on the board when Caden Daley brought in a run right off the bat followed by another run in the second inning after Peyton Mason walked and the third run in the bottom of the third from a Gabe Conley home run. The Tigers collected 10 hits in the game courtesy of Brice Marchman, Caden Daley and DJ Stanford for two apiece. Marchman, Daley, Peyton Mason, Gabe Conley Shane Gamiza, and DJ Stanford each drove in one run for the Tigers. Mason led Swainsboro with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating a total of 11 walks for the game. D.J. Sanford was also primed and ready with two stolen bases for the day. The Indians were led by Brayden McGraw with two hits in three times up. Ty Beck went 1-for-2 at the plate as the outfielder led the team with one run batted in.
Brice Marchman was the starting pitcher for Swainsboro and gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Veer Patel was the losing pitcher for the Indians allowing six runs (two earned), striking out three and walking seven during three and two-thirds innings. Brandon Chapman threw two innings of shutout ball for Swainsboro in relief. The reliever gave up one hit, striking out two and walking one.

Pitcher Brice Marchman had a solid game keeping the Indians off balance and controlling the game for 15 outs on only 77 pitches thrown. Brandon Chapman came in to record the last six outs to close out the day and put the Tiger’s first win of the season in the book. Swainsboro’s Coach Billy Marchman wrapped it up saying, “Offensively, we reached first base 25 times with 10 hits, 11 BB’s, a hit by pitch and three reach on error and were able to manufacture nine runs. The nine runs were enough with us committing only two defensive errors to go along with a solid pitching performance.
