Paula Karrh presented the program for the meeting. It was a very interesting on Biblical Herbs that can be grown in Emanuel County. Each herb named was associated with a Bible verse. Some of the ones she used: Aloe (John 19:39), Anise (Matthew 23:23), Cassia (Ezekiel 27:19), Cinnamon (Exodus 30:23), Cumin (Isaiah 28:25) Mustard (Luke 17:6) Garlic (Numbers 11:5). It was interesting to learn from Bible verses how these were used for both food and medicine. Karrh also reminded us of January planting like sow seeds of sweet peas and larkspur now. Later when freezing temperatures are gone plant all types of ornamental trees, clean up your beds for spring plants. Don’t forget to feed the birds. Paula always helps us keep up with horticulture tips each month.
