The Brier Creek Chapter held its monthly meeting, Thursday night, February 6, 2025, at Walls Diner at 6:30. With President Lee Herron presiding, there were 20 in attendance. The speaker for the evening, Ransom Schwerzler, is the Director of the Meadow Gardens, home of one of the Declaration of Independence signers George Walton in Augusta. Ransom presented the group with an outstanding program about how the DAR saved this home from destruction and has operated it for over 100 years. It is open six days a week and walk in traffic is encouraged. President Lee presented Sgt-at-Arms Don Bazemore with the Education Outreach Chapter Flag Streamer 2024 that was presented to him at the Annual Conference in Atlanta the weekend before. It was announced by Steve Burke that President Lee received the “Silver Henry Knox Medal” from Georgia Society President Ed Rigel, Jr. at same conference. That was a high honor that President Lee received this medal for his work on the Georgia State 250th Revolutionary War Tag that is coming out in 2026.
