Rosland, Handberry Pickens, age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Church in Garfield with Pastor Johnnie Branch presiding. Interment followed in Swan Cemetery.
Rosland was born March 13, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Alex and Fannie Handberry. She graduated from Central Commercial High School in June 1959. Rosland worked for the United States Postal Service and retired in 1985. She then married her late husband, Willis C. Pickens, Jr., in July 1992, and they moved to Garfield to enjoy their retirement. Mrs. Pickens is preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Genitha Pickens, Alex Handberry, Jr., Jeanette Ivey and Willie Handberry.
Mrs. Handberry is survived by her son, Darryl Handberry; grandson, Darryl J. Handberry; granddaughter, Jemella C. Raymore; great-grandson, Devon Oliver Handberry; sisters and brother, Dora Hubert, Fannie Sherman and Virgil Handberry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
