Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Rev. Billy Clifford Brinson, Sr., age 66, of Swainsboro, on Friday, June 28, 2024, at his residence. Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Neil Stitch and Rev. Louis Pearce officiating. Interment followed at Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. The family received friends Sunday, June 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tomlinson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Noah Way, Brandon Brown, Greg Denison, Allen Amerson, Drone Hudson, George Archer and Ben Robinson. Honorary pallbearers were Pastors of the Emanuel Mis-sionary Baptist Association, members of the Boggy Possum Hunting Club, Johnny Thigpen and Jimmy Hiers.
Billy was born March 8, 1958, to the late Billy Brinson and Maurine Brinson McDaniel. He was a lifelong resident of Swainsboro and a 1976 graduate of Swainsboro High School. Billy was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and later went on to pastor at Hines Baptist Church. He was a member of the Georgia Baptist Association, serving on the executive board. Billy also served as Director of Missions for the Emanuel Missionary Baptist Association. He worked at Tomlinson Funeral Home for many years. Billy worked for Fulghum Industries for over 20 years and was in the carpentry and construction business for over 24 years. He was a hard worker, always providing for his family. Billy loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his children and grandchildren. He loved preaching and had 24 churches that became fami-ly. Billy’s greatest legacy will remain with his children and grandchildren who he loved dear-ly. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brinson is preceded in death by his grandson, Ryker Brin-son.
Mr. Brinson is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Amerson Brinson; daughters, Mandy Lively (Billy) and Brook Clements (Josh); son, Dr. Billy Brinson, Jr. (Mandi); grandchildren, Maci Mitchell (Rick), Lenox Lively, Sydney Lively, Amelia Grace Clements, Drake Clements, Dawson Clements, Gabrielle Clements, Bentley Brinson, Blakely Brinson, Finley Brinson and Granger Brinson; mother-in-law, Lucy Amerson; brother, Jeff Brinson (Brenda); sister, Juanita Brown (Keith); many extended family members and friends.
The family invites friends to make memorial contributions to: Ryker Brinson Scholarship, 354 Bell Rd., Swainsboro, GA 30401 and Gideons if they so desire.
