Orther Bell Rountree, 81

Orther Bell Rountree, age 81, departed this life Saturday, June 8, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Rountree Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Amos Handsom officiating.

Orther was born April 26, 1943, in Barnwell, SC. She moved to Garfield at a young age. Orther was an employee of Emanuel County Institute for 40 years. She was a member of Rountree Chapel Baptist Church. Mrs. Rountree is preceded in death by her mother, Susie Bell Pryor; husband, Elton Rountree, SR.; daughter, Sarah Nell Pierce; sister, Ackinese Steele; brother, John Gaines; and stepdaughters, Rose Fann and Carrie Mae Williams.

Mrs. Rountree leaves to cherish her memories with her son, Richard Rountree of Twin City; daughter, Mildred Rountree of Twin City; stepchildren, Randy Mae Mosley and Elton Rountree, Jr, both of Twin City and Beverly Newton and Shirley Newton, both of Milton; grandchildren, Miranda (Joe) Smith, Brittany Sherrod, Domini que Rountree, ShaQuanda Rountree, Danielle Sherrod, Jamia Daughtry, Malayshia Daughtry and Makaila Daughtry; seven great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Richard Daughtry and Larry Pierce; and a host of other relatives and friends.
