The Swainsboro Rotary Club held the weekly meeting Monday, April 14, at the Rustic Grill. President Zack Proctor called the meeting to order, and the prayer, pledge and 4-way test was recited. Tanya Lane gave an update on the upcoming Pine Tree Festival beauty pageant that will be held at East Georgia State College this year. Emily Johnson introduced the speaker for the meeting, Halli Kate Johnson. Halli Kate is the daughter of Wade and Anna Johnson and is a senior at ECI and plans to attend UGA in the Fall with a pre-med major. She is the reigning Miss Southeast Georgia teen, and her program was about her platform as the reigning queen. Halli Kate is very active in the Humane Society in Emanuel County and holds fundraisers to contribute the Animal Shelter. She has held fund raisers at the schools in the county as well as the preschools. Halli Kate has volunteered many hours at the shelter and plans to continue her volunteer work when she attends UGA.
