Joan was born April 20, 1951, in Swainsboro, to the late Howell Davis and Hilda Chapman Davis Dukes. She was a member of Dellwood Baptist Church. Joan loved Jesus and her church. She loved her nursery babies and youth Sunday school classes and referred to them as “hers”. Joan loved it when they would visit and pray with her. She did volunteer work at the local food pantry for 15 years. Joan enjoyed going to the mountains, especially at Christmas time, and she always wanted to take the whole family. She loved spending time with and loving her family, especially during the holidays where she always overprepared. Her homemade chocolate and caramel cakes were the best. Joan enjoyed working with Billy at Chapman Funeral Home and comforting others and talking about and leading people to Salvation. Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Davis, Keith Davis and Sammy Davis; sisters, Wanda Howell and Connie Meeks.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carroll Morgan; daughters, Teresa McElwain (Eric) of Swainsboro, Kim Barnes (Jr.) of Pulaski and Denise Woods (Ben) of Perry; sister, Debbie Smoak (Gaines) of Newington; grandchildren, Kelsey McFalls (Josh), JoBeth Johnson (Hayward), Chase Woods (Ellie), Kade McElwain (Abby), Bailey Woods and Alyssa Barnes; great-grandchildren, Tristan McFalls, Evelyn McFalls, Adelyn McFalls, Jonas Johnson, Carli Jayce Johnson, Emerly Woods and Marlo Woods; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
