Mr. Jimmy Broughton Harrison, 85, of Kite, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at his residence. Funeral services were held at Kite First Baptist Church at 11 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2025, with Reverend Burton Dixon officiating, assisted by Reverend Kevin Farmer. Interment followed at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Wrightsville, GA. The family received friends Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 5p.m. to 7p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.

Mr. Harrison was born on May 5, 1939, in Kite, to Green Broughton and Evelyn Lawson Harrison. He was a retired rural mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, a past businessman, and a farmer. He was past owner of a Sears Catalog Merchant Store and a Dairy Queen. He served as past president of the Johnson County Cattleman’s Association and was a past Rotarian.

Mr. Harrison also served as a district and state president for the Georgia Rural Carrier’s Association. He also served as a deacon for Kite First Baptist Church. Mr. Harrison enjoyed fishing, farming, and raising cattle, but loved time with his family, most of all. He was the beloved “Pa Pa” to two wonderful granddaughters and always kept up with their whereabouts and activities.

He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Farmer Harrison of Kite; daughter, Jan Harrison Hooks (Vaughn) of Venice, FL; son, John Harrison (Jennifer) of Kite; granddaughters, Aubrey Harrison, Addyson Harrison; brother, George Harrison (Kathryn) of Kite; sister, Martha Claxton (Johnny) of Kite; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Pallbearers were Joey Claxton, William Harrison, Tal Jones, Tadd Wiggins, Todd Wiggins and Todd Fortner.

Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro was in charge of the arrangements.
