Jack was born April 13, 1930, to Leonard L. and Myrtle Snell Mason of Swainsboro. He had four brothers and two sisters who all attended the Emanuel County School System. Jack was a graduate of Swainsboro High School. Like all his brothers, he served in the military. In 1960, Mr. Mason married Nedra Ann Hooks and moved to Augusta where he worked at the Savannah River Site. He loved the land and working outdoors, which led him to starting his lifelong business, Mason Tree and Turf Farm in Beech Island, SC. Jack also enjoyed land procurement. He and wife Ann had one son, Stuart Lynn Mason, and later enjoyed being grandparents to two boys, Jack and Morgan Mason. Although hard work was instilled in Mr. Mason’s daily life, he and his wife were solid Christians and great supporters of Curtis Baptist Church in Augusta. His loves were God, country and family. Mr. Mason and his wife enjoyed working and traveling together. After her death in 2023, Jack moved to Emanuel County and resided with his sister, Peggy. In 2024, he became a resident of Emanuel Medical Center Nursing Home due to declining health where he remained until his death. Mr. Mason loved his family and friends deeply and lived his life fully, and he will be greatly missed.
