Remember how excited we were in March to see the return of our hummingbirds? We have enjoyed them for the past six months, but now they have less than a month to stay with us. For Emanuel County, their last days are usually the first and second weeks of October with October 16th being the latest they have been seen. Most adult males have already departed and with the remaining being females and those born this summer.
As the summer ends, hummingbird experts suggest changing their nectar solution from four cups of water and one cup of sugar to three cups of water and one cup of sugar. They need the extra energy for their annual trip back to Mexico and Central America. © Copyright 2024 The Forest-Blade/Emanuel County Live. All rights reserved.
