The Brier Creek Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting, Thursday night, October 5, at Walls Diner in Sylvania at 7 p.m. With President Wayne Howard presiding, they had 18 in attendance. After the invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the SAR, President Wayne introduced Compatriot Lee Herron to present his program. Lee spoke about his ancestor, Capt. John “Jack” Jouett, who was a Patriot of the American Revolution and referred to as the “Paul Revere of the South”. President Wayne then discussed upcoming events, Colby Smith Reunion, Patriot Joseph Avant’s grave marking, Siege of Savannah, Fort Morris, Wreaths Across America (Dec 16) and the Brier Creek Wreaths Across America Memorial on December 17. President Wayne also mentioned the annual Christmas meeting to be held at Compatriot John Fitzner’s Clubhouse on the Brier Creek on Thursday night, December 7. Wayne then closed with a prayer and the SAR Recessional.
