Mr. Harley Strickland, age 66, of Vidalia, died Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Emanuel Medical Center after a sudden illness. Funeral service was held Monday, July 1, at 3 p.m. in the chap-el of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Efton Green officiating. Burial followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Billy Copeland, Keith Horton, Tony Wright, James Goodwin, Mike Carroll, and Delton Lord. Honorary pallbearers were “local bread men” and Toombs Central class-mates.
Harley was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and attended Toombs Central School. He worked with Piggly Wiggly Southern for twelve years and retired after thirty-four years as Area Sales Director for Flowers Distributing. Harley was a member of Calvary on Aimwell and served as music director for several years. He enjoyed traveling, yard work, working on small engines, watching westerns, and sports, especially the Atlanta Braves. Mr. Strickland is preceded in death by his parents, R.N. Strickland and Frances Parrish Strickland; and four siblings, Albert Strickland, Charlie Strickland, Patsy Strickland and Newton Strickland.
Mr. Strickland leaves to cherish his memories with his wife of forty years, Lisa G. Strickland; four children, Deidre McCarty (Scott), Michelle Strickland, Samuel Strickland (Tiffany) and Matthew Strickland (Katelyn), all of Vidalia; sister, Ruby Lee Faircloth of Vidalia; brothers, Steve Strickland of Wauchula, FL and William Strickland of Vidalia; sisters-in-law, Mary Strickland and Reba Strickland; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and fur babies, Izzy and Sparky.
