Frances Inez Drew, age 78, of Swainsboro, moved to her heavenly home on Friday, January 10, 2025. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home. The family will not be gathering due to having family members living out of town.
Frances was born on August 7, 1946, in McComb, Mississippi, to Joseph and Florence Holland. She was a devoted daughter and was very close to her parents and brother, Jamie. Her mother was one of her best friends, and Frances took care of her throughout her life until she passed. Now, we rejoice she is reunited with her mother, father, and brother in heaven. Frances loved her family and the Lord. Her faith was unwavering, setting an example for her two children and eight grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
Frances lived her elementary years in Virginia and then moved to Georgia at the age of twelve. She graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1965. Frances met her husband, Casey, at the Lakeview Restaurant in Waynesboro, and was married on September 21, 1970, and they were happily married for 54 years. They had two children, Joseph and Mary.
Frances was saved and baptized at Crossroads Church in Waynesboro, and for the remainder of her life, she carried a strong faith. Frances and Casey moved to Swainsboro in 1983. She spent her years as a homemaker, a wife, and a mother. Frances was capable and tireless, always striving to make her home a warm inviting place and taking care of her family. She started cooking as a young girl and was an amazing southern cook. During her years in Swainsboro, Frances was a member of Hawhammock Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Swainsboro. She had a gift for connecting with the older people in the church and often visited them offering love, conversation and companionship. As her family grew, she took pride in her grandchildren and faithfully prayed for them. She had a love for the mountains, and in their golden years, Frances and Casey traveled in their camper and spent much of their time in Hiawassee, where they made many friends. She will be missed by her family and friends, and though she is gone, the love she gave us remains forever. “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Casey Drew of Swainsboro; son, Joey Drew (Paige) of Evans; daughters, Mary Drew Gary (Mercer) of Monroe; grandchildren, Matthew Baker, Caleb Gary, Isabelle Gary, Vivienne Gary, Scarlet Gary, Gabe Gary, Mattie Drew, Cannon Ward; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to: Guido Ministries, P. O. Box 508, Metter, GA 30439.
