Deacon Farris Madison Hudson, Sr., age 90, transitioned to his eternal home on Sunday, May 26, 2024. A Homecoming Celebration was held Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at the former Wadley High School gymnasium with Apostle Clifford Duckworth officiating.
Farris was born December 4, 1933, in Wadley, to the late Rev. James Madison Hudson and Eliza Murphy. He received his elementary and high school training in Jefferson County, graduating from Carver High School. Farris continued his education at Savannah State College, earning a Bachelor of Science degree and Atlanta University earning his master’s degree. He served as a teacher in the math and science departments at Jefferson County Training School in Louisville and later served as principle of several schools, including Lexsy Elementary, Tenders Grove Elementary in Avera, Jefferson County High and Wadley High. Mr. Hudson is preceded in death by his parents; stepparents; three brothers; one sister; son-in-law; mother and father-in-law; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
Cherishing Mr. Hudson’s memories are his loving wife; son, Farris Madison (Verna) Hudson, Jr.; daughters, LaZelda Williams, Farlyn Hudson, Shawana (Donovan) Lewis and Phrashunda Hudson; five grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers; one sister; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
