Tomlinson Funeral Home & Crematory announces the death of Mrs. Evelyn Sconyers Patrick, age 85, of Swainsboro, on Friday, October 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family. Funeral services were Sunday, October 6, at 3 p.m. in the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Sweat officiating and a Eulogy by David Porter. Entombment followed in the Eastbrook Cemetery and Mausoleum. Family received friends during a visitation one hour prior to the time of services.
Pallbearers were LeRoy Lane, Thomas Sconyers, Steven Andrews, Brad Riner, Ted Sconyers, Chet Sconyers, Jared Stubbs, Dan Johnson, Abb Johnson and Austin Meadows. Honorary escorts were Deacons of Canoochee Baptist Church and Adult Ladies Sunday School Class.
Evelyn was born in 1938 in Emanuel County to the late Earl Thomas and Annie Lee Johnson Sconyers. She was a 1956 graduate of Emanuel County Institute. Evelyn retired in 2013 from the UGA Extension Emanuel County 4-H as a program assistant. She loved all her students and spent countless hours helping them prepare for various events. During Evelyn’s time with Emanuel County 4-H, she received numerous awards including the 4-H Foundation Leaders Volunteer, 4-H Hall of Fame in 2002, and Employee of the year in 2005. She retired from Argo Mills – Creston after 38 years of dedicated service. In addition to Evelyn’s careers, she also directed numerous local weddings. She was a member of Canoochee Baptist Church where she served as church clerk for many years, as well as teaching Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Patrick ss preceded in death by her husband, Edd L. Patrick; and brothers, Edward R. Sconyers and Thomas W. “Tommy” Sconyers.
Mrs. Patrick is survived by her son, Clay Patrick of Hartwell; grandchildren, McKenna Patrick and Wilson Patrick; sisters, JoAnn Lane of Canoochee, Betty Jean Andrews (Eddie) of Swainsboro, Glenda S. Riner (William) of Swainsboro; sister-in-law, Angelia Sconyers of Swainsboro; many nieces and nephews; ss well as her faithful caregivers, Francis Lane, Willette Brown, Elaine Cummings, Tarnea Brown, Fahneshia Coney and Betty Jones, and Hospice nurse, Ashley Grimm.
