Emanuel County 4-H’ers team took aim at the Georgia 4-H State Indoor Archery Championship held January 18, at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. Thirty-one Emanuel County 4-H Archery team members competed in four divisions: Cloverleaf Compound for 4th-6th Graders, Junior Compound for 7th-8th Graders, Senior Compound for 9th-12th Graders, and Cloverleaf Novice which is limited to recurve or universal draw length compound bows that do not have a positive draw stop or let-off. Several local youth placed well in the competition of over 700 4-H archers!
The Archery Team also held its annual county match Sunday, January 12, at the Emanuel County Livestock Barn. Winners in each division were:
Cloverleaf Male Novice: 1st- Waylon Bell, 2nd Connor Devane; Cloverleaf Female Novice: 1st Adah Way; Cloverleaf Male Compound: 1st Tanner Mitchell, 2nd Jaxin McGee, 3rd Hudson Ware; Cloverleaf Female Compound: 1st Jenna Farmer, 2nd Abigail Joseph; Junior Male Compound: 1st Bowen Ware, 2nd Sam Lawrence, 3rd Joshua Walker; Junior Female Compound: 1st Edyn Henry, 2nd Ada Bell, 3rd Addi Rae Robertson; Senior Male Compound: 1st Tate Torpy, 2nd Spencer Lawrence, 3rd Clay Lawrence; Senior Female Compound: 1st Lauren Sapp
Other archery team members competing this season were Adalyn Akridge, Adalee Bell, Benton Harry, Elizabeth Harry, Nathaniel Harry, Jace Henry, Hoyt Lawrence, Ethan Mason, Abby Rachels, Kayden Sutherland, Tate Torpy, Hudson Ware, Eli Way, Brett Way, Marshall Way, and Sam Williams.
The Archery Program is a part of the Georgia 4-H Shooting Awareness, Fun and Education Program (S.A.F.E.). The teams were coached by 4-H Volunteers Ashley Henry, Cliff Mason, Melissa Gulledge, Steven Johnson, Seneca Lawrence, and Jack Williams.
