Mr. Earl Shirey, 86, of Adrian, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on February 25, 1938, in Kite to the late Grady Shirey and Vicy Martin Shirey.
Mr. Shirey is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lamar Shirey, Donald Shirey. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Swainsboro Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Nunn Shirey of Adrian; sons, Ricky (Nancy) Shirey, David Shirey both of Adrian; daughter, Glenda (Lamar) Coleman of Kite; sister, Margaret (Milton) Howell of Lake Oconee; 3 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Dowless and Rev. Eddie Hodges officiating.
Interment will follow in the Swainsboro City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jonathan Earl Shirey, Brandon Shirey, Mark Howell, Grady Shirey, Christopher Hamrick, Ronald Lee Varner III, Trent Calahan Shirey, and Preston Varner.
Chapman Funeral Home of Swainsboro is in charge of the arrangements.
