Durden Banking Company, Inc. recently presented five area high school seniors with a $1,000 scholarship. A scholarship recipient was named in each of the graduating classes of Jenkins County High School, Swainsboro High School, Metter High School, David Emanuel Academy and Emanuel County Institute. Each applicant was judged based on academic achievement, community involvement, and a written essay about the importance of community banking. Local recipients are Dhahami Salgado – Emanuel County Institute, Tisey Powell – Swainsboro High School and William David Martin – David Emanuel Academy.
