The Mill Creek Chapter, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting Tuesday night, February 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Ole Times Buffet Restaurant in Statesboro. With President Randy Jones presiding, there were 16 attending. After the invocation, outstanding dinner, U.S. Pledge of Allegiance and the Pledge to the SAR, President Randy asked the East Fall Line Region Vice President Dess Smith III to introduce the program for the evening. Compatriot Dess introduced Veteran, author and accomplished speaker, Ed DeVos, to present his program on “Revenge at Kings Mountain. He has written several books including The Stain, The Chaplain’s Cross, Revenge at Kings Mountain, Family of Warriors’ and The Last 100 yards, and they are all available on Amazon.com. Ed’s presentation was a review of the Battle at Kings Mountain, how all the participants were Americans (Loyalists and Patriots) except for one British Officer, Major Ferguson. Compatriot Dess then presented President Randy with three Chapter Flag Streamers for Compatriot Lee Herron presenting the Chapters wreath at the Fort Morris event November 18, the Elijah Clarke Heroes of the Hornets’ Nest event on February 9, and the Kettle Creek Battle event held on February 10.
