The Four Rivers Chapter held its monthly meeting Thursday, November 18, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 6 p.m. With Registrar Dean Mills presiding in the absence of President George King, there were 12 in attendance. Dean asked Chaplain Emory Fennell to give the invocation and then led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the SAR. Dean then asked Dess Smith to introduce the speaker for the evening, LTC (ret) Ed DeVos, is a retired Army Ranger and has received the Silver Star with one oak leaf cluster, the Legion of Merit, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and the U.S. and German Parachute Wings. Ed lives with his wife Susan in McCormick, SC. He is an author of several books, and his presentation was on “Revenge at Kings Mountain, the over the Mountain Boys”. Dean then read out the list of 2024 Four Rivers Patriots Chapter officers and a motion was made by Dual member Dess Smith III to elect these officers by acclamation. It was seconded by Dual member Emory Fennell. The Chapter also voted to cancel the December meeting because it would be only four days before Christmas. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Chatters where the 2024 officers will be installed by the Georgia Society Senior Vice President Ed Rigil, Jr.
