The Four Rivers Patriots, Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, held its monthly meeting Thursday night, June 20, at Chatters Restaurant in Lyons at 6 p.m. With President Steve DeWeil presiding, they had 16 in attendance. After the invocation by Chaplain Emory Fennell and the Pledge to the U.S. Flag and the Pledge to the Sons of the American Revolution, President Steve called on dual member Dess Smith III to introduce the speaker for the evening. Compatriot Dess introduced Compatriot John Derden to present his program on “Frederica, not one man Hurt”. John is a member of the Wiregrass Chapter in Swainsboro and is retired from East Georgia State College where he was the History Professor. After John’s presentation, President Steve and the chapter talked about finding all the Revolutionary War Patriots graves that are buried in Toombs and Montgomery counties. After several other items were discussed, President Steve then called on Chaplain Emory Fennell to say the benediction and led the Sons of the Revolution Recessional.
