On February 9, the David Emanuel Academy varsity basketball teams traveled to Sparta to compete against John Hancock Academy. In the varsity girls’ game, the Lady Eagles were unsuccessful against the Rebels with a final score of 52-36. Scoring 10 points, Maddie Perkins led the team in score. Also contributing were Addalyn Terwilliger and Emma Proctor each with 8 points, Christen McCoy and Kylie Bell both with 3 points, and Payton Peebles and Aubrey Williams with 2 points each.
Following the girls’ game, the varsity boys’ team played a hard-fought battle against the Re-bels. Richard Braddy was on fire knocking down six shots from behind the arc and leading the team with 22 points. Also contributing for David Emanuel were Randon Williams with 14 points, Peyton Lee with 10 points, Tony Sutton 6 points, Brody Fleming 4 points and Billy Martin 3 points.
