Compatriot Steve Burke, member of the Wiregrass Chapter Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution, traveled to Edmond Burke Academy in Waynesboro on Wednesday, November 20, to present his “Traveling Trunk” program to the students at the school. Burke’s Traveling Trunk consists of items he has fashioned after items that would have been used during the 1700’s and the American Revolution. Burke has many animal skins that he has used to make hats, pants, shirts and shoes and all skins are from “roadkill”. He is a survivalist and travels all over the south educating students and adults on what it was like living in revolutionary war days. Burke was asked by Mrs. Angie Gay Brantley to present his program to four classes, consisting of two 5th grades and two 6th grades for a total of 61 students.
