Before the game against Savannah Country Day last week, the Bulldog administration and players honored head baseball coach Brooks Collins on winning his 100th game. The team presented him with a steel Homeplate plaque with signatures and comments from players on the back.
Collins had 99 wins going into the 2024 season and won his 100th in a win against Swainsboro in the season opener. The 100 wins came in five full seasons and one shortened COVID year, that ended just two weeks into the season. Brooks took over the reigns of the baseball Bulldogs from long time head coach Chad Harper. During the six years, Collins never had a losing record. His best season was 2023 with a 31-10 season record, a region championship and state runner up. Collins was also named Single A Division II Coach of the Year in 2023, which is normally given to the state championship coach.
Some of the comments from his current players include: “Coach Collins has always been honest and straightforward with me. He is willing to give the shirt off his back for anyone needing it. He is the best coach in the state.” “Coach Brooks has been the most impactful coach in my life. He has taught us what it means to be a team and turned us all from individuals into team players. He is our Dawg on and off the field.” “Coach Brooks has always treated me like one of his own. He would do anything for anybody.”
