Another election has been decided in the crowded 2024 political sweepstakes of Emanuel County. The official numbers for the runoff between Kwame Coleman and Chris Jukes for County Commissioner, District 1 is as follows: Coleman received a total of 340 votes. Jukes tallied 253. The breakdown of the vote for Coleman included 238 votes on election day, 93 votes in advance, and 9 absentees for a total of 57.14 percent. Jukes received 151 votes on election day, 97 in advance, and 5 by absentee for a total of 42.52 percent of the total votes cast. The next round of elections on the calendar will take place a little over a month from now when a slate of local and state races are decided on May 21.
