Mrs. Carol Ann Cammack Oglesby, age 77, of Oak Park, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after an extended illness. Funeral service was held Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Olney Primitive Baptist Church in Oak Park with Elder Bill Durrence officiating. Burial followed at Oak Park City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Deano Cammack, Matt Cammack, Jeremy Nobles, Oliver Stephenson, Todd Mason, Corey Wren, Wes Covington, Jerry Bass, Allen Oglesby and Brandon Oglesby.
Mrs. Oglesby was a native of Treutlen County and a 1965 graduate of Soperton High School. After meeting her husband, Orbin, in 1968, she made Oak Park her home. Carol and Orbin were owners/operators of Oak Park Grocery from 1970 to 1973. It was during that time they made many friends and fostered a love of serving their community. They were also current owners of Oglesby Family Farm. Carol was a member of Olney Primitive Baptist Church, which she loved dearly. She enjoyed birds, especially hummingbirds, vegetable gardening, cooking, canning, fishing and sewing, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She especially loved cooking for and serving her children and grandchildren’s friends. Mrs. Oglesby is preceded in death by her parents, Warren Dean Cammack and Rose Maria DiDonato Cammack; brother, Ronald Joseph Cammack; infant sister, Tammy Latrice Cammack; and sister, Shirley Jean Cammack Roberts.
Mrs. Oglesby’s family includes her husband of fifty-six years, Orbin Oglesby of Oak Park; three children, Michelle Oglesby Wright of Lyons, Mitchell Oglesby of Nashville, Tennessee and Marlon Oglesby (Julie) of Moore, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Sam Wright of Lyons, Maggie Wright of Savannah, Matthew Oglesby and Jonathan Oglesby, both of Moore, South Carolina; four siblings, Dean Cammack (Nell) of Richmond Hill, Donna Stephenson (Harold) of Dublin, Becky Mason (Danny) and Kim Wren, all of Soperton; several nieces, nephews and other extended family, including three uncles, Albert DiDonato, Joe Rosito and Tommy DiDonato (Dorine), all of Dublin.
