Georgia Society Members from all across Georgia traveled to the Sonesta Hotel in Duluth to attend the Annual GASSAR Conference on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27. Saturday morning during the awards presentations, the Wiregrass Chapter President Steve Burke was awarded the John Dooly Education Outreach Award in recognition of contributions to the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution during 2023. This state award goes to the GASSAR member who has significantly contributed their time and efforts in an outstanding manner to our youth and adult education outreach programs as a member of the SAR. Burke received a plaque, a certificate and a $200.00 cash award, which can only be awarded one time. Burke travels to many SAR events across Georgia each year and always displays his four tables of Revolutionary War items, “Traveling Trunk”, and explains them to hundreds and hundreds of youths and adults.
