The Brier Creek Artillery traveled to Contentment Bluff Plantation Cemetery at Shellman Bluff to participate in the four Patriot Grave Marking on Friday, November 22, at 3 p.m. Those members were Commander Steve Burke, Lee Herron, Dess Smith III, Don Bazemore and Alton McCloud. They represent the Little River Chapter, Brier Creek Chapter and the Wiregrass Chapter of the Georgia Society Sons of the American Revolution. The four patriot’s graves that were marked are: Patriot John Calder, Patriot James Gilligiant, Sr., Capt. James Nephew and Lt. Col. John Cooper. In attendance were 45 people and more that 40 wreaths were presented. At the end of the event and right before taps were played, the Brier Creek Artillery fired a three-round volley with their six-pounder cannons.
