Mrs. Betty Lou Johns Reese, 85, of Swainsboro, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Pruitt Health of Swainsboro following a short experience of recent health problems. Funeral services will be Friday, December 20, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home with Reverend Rusty Moore officiating, assisted by Reverend Jim Harrell. Interment will follow in Moxley Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Thursday, December 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Chapman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Adam Bennett, Jonathan Reese, Luke Peebles, Albert Bennett, Stephen and Nathan Reese
Mrs. Reese was born October 13, 1939, in Swainsboro, to the late Albert Johns and Louetta Beasley Johns. She was a homemaker with hobbies of knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery and baking her specialty cakes for special occasions. Mrs. Betty enjoyed her creations by sharing with others in the community her many talents, donating to the neonatal care her crocheted outfits or octopus for comforting the little ones. Mrs. Reese is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leroy Reese; and brothers, Billy Johns, Danny Johns and Henry Johns.
Mrs. Reese enjoyed family time with her surviving children, Linda Reese Bennett of Swainsboro, Robert “Bobby” Reese (Ethel) of Hazlehurst, Diane Reese Hodges (Ricky) of Vidalia and Randy Reese (Catherine) of Floral City, FL; 11 grandchildren, Renee “Reyna” Galindo of Baxley, April Alba (Juan) of Douglas, Adam Bennett of Swainsboro, Jennifer “Dee” Peebles of Deforest, WI, Albert Bennett of Swainsboro, Luke Peebles of Valdosta, Jonathan Reese of Baxley, Henry “Hank” Peebles (Kaylan) of Madsion, WI, Stephen Reese of Floral City, FL, Angel Lewis (Chance) of Swainsboro and Nathan Reese of Floral City, FL; 13 great-grandchildren, Cristian Torres, Arianna Lara, both of Hazlehurst, Ryan Galindo, Rosi Galindo, Reylyn Galindo, all of Baxley, Alex Alba of Douglas, Edward Bennett of Swainsboro, Zach, Lucas, Johnjon Reese, all of Baxley, Lillian Harlan, Tillian Peebles, both of Madsion, WI and Hudson Lewis of Swainsboro; great-great-grandson, Jacob Lara of Hazlehurst. Mrs. Betty was a special gift of a grandmother to five additional grandchildren, one great-grandchild and great-great-grandchild. Her life was filled with many loved ones; sisters-in-law, Deborah (Danny) Johns and Betty (William “Billy”) Johns; multiple nieces and nephews, loyal lifetime friends and neighbors, as well as her precious furry companion “Jingles” she leaves with us to cherish and remember her life as we celebrate the going home to be joined with her beloved Leroy Reese.
