Pallbearers were Brack Tanner, Roy Powell, Walter Drew, Jody Scott, Mark Crosby and Donald Blizzard.
Kay was born January 23, 1952, in Swainsboro, to the late John Clifton Harrison and Nannie Ree Blizzard Harrison. She was retired from the Social Security Administration. Kay was a faithful member of New Home Baptist Church where she served as Church Secretary and Treasurer. She was an avid reader and loved to share her books with family and friends. Kay was happiest when at home and gathering with family, especially those nephews and nieces who adored her beyond words. She was their aunt, their mama, and grandma, and always reminded each one “to never forget your raising”. Kay loved taking her frequent strolls around the farm and to the ponds with her nephew Cliff. She rescued many stray and abandoned animals throughout her life, and the love among her and all of them was obvious to everyone. Kay was the “twin” and best friend to sister, Polly, and most of the time “mother” to sister and brother, Johnnie and Charles. Miss Harrison is preceded in death by her parents.
Miss Harrison is survived by her brother, Charles Harrison of Kite; two sisters, Polly Harrison (Floyd) Collins of Kite and Johnnie Harrison Edge of Wrightsville; nieces and nephews, Cliff Collins of Kite, Sara Collins of Wrightsville, Meredith Edge (Blake Deal and Isla Mikell-Deal) of Statesboro and Evan (Adrienne) Edge of St. Simons Island.
The family asks that donations be made in memory of Kay to: Samaritan’s Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org or the Emanuel County Humane Society at P.O. Box 443, Swainsboro, GA 30401.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Wrightsville Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
