The Brier Creek Chapter held its monthly meeting Thursday night, December 5, at the American Legion Center at 6p.m. With President Wayne Howard presiding, they had 29 in attendance. This was their annual Christmas banquet, and the awarding of their 5th SGT John R. McKinney Brier Creek Chapter Distinguished Service Medal. An incumbent Chapter President may present one medal during each year’s term of office to a compatriot in recognition for that Compatriot’s conspicuous service to the Chapter during the past year, and no other approval is needed. A compatriot may receive this medal only once. No oak leaf clusters are authorized. This year’s recipient is Don Shelby Bazemore. Congratulations Don! President Wayne also presented Bernard Martin II and Benjamin Martin with their membership medals. Then Registrar Lee Herron presented Sgt-at-Arms Don Bazemore with the Chapters Streamer for presenting the Chapters wreath at the “236th Anniversary Siege of Fort Morris “Come and Take It” event held on November 23. In attendance was also the President of the Georgia Society Ed Rigel, Jr. who brought greetings from the Georgia Society.
