It was a packed house at the new Emanuel County government center Monday afternoon as nearly 200 people turned out to mark its official opening. The crowd included everyone from the Emanuel County Board of Commissioners and elected state officials to county staff and the community members they serve.
County Administrator Guy Singletary welcomed attendees before Chairman Jim Sherrod delivered the main address, reflecting on the significance of the project and all who made it possible.
The newly christened Davis–Thompson Building, located at 223 West Moring Street, now houses several important departments: the tax commissioner’s office, the tax assessor’s office, and the elections office. The space is named in memory of former commissioners the late Keith Thompson and the late Desse Davis.
A full press release and additional photos will be made available next week.
