February 7
Officer observed a vehicle with a non-working brake light, at which time he made a traffic stop. Officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the driver and passenger to step out of the vehicle. Empty cigarillo packages and several clear plastic wrapping type wrappers, a torch, jar with burnt blunts, and a 9mm handgun were found in the vehicle. The handgun was run and came back stolen out of Soperton. Both suspects were minors and advised someone gave them the handgun and provided a name. They were released to one minor’s mother and advised that Soperton PD would be in contact with them.
Offender was taken into custody on an arrest warrant while at JAG Probation office.
Officer responded WalMart in reference to damage to a vehicle.
February 8
Officer was dispatched to Youngblood St. in reference to a male subject being at complainant’s residence and c/p having a TPO on him. C/p stated she saw offender on her camera walk around to her backyard/ C/p advised offender had taken a window unit out of a window and knew the window would not close.
Officers were dispatched to Lee St. in reference to a male hitting a juvenile.
Officers were dispatched to W. Church St. in reference to a stolen vehicle. Complainant advised her vehicle was taken from her residence during the night and was informed that her child’s father, who has been incarcerated for battery and family violence, was released on bond the previous day. C/p expressed anger due to not being informed of his release. Shortly after the call, officers were dispatched to Empire Expressway in reference to an abandoned in the middle of the road with the engine running. The front driver-side structure was caved in and the roof was significantly damaged, consistent with a rollover accident, and the front passenger tire was blown as well as the windshield completely shattered.
Officer took a walk-in report where complainant wanted a report on an ongoing custody dispute. C/p advised that she and her child’s father have been having difficulties with their custody arrangements, and she was supposed to meet offender to pick their daughter up and offender’s mother met her, but it was decided in court that she could not meet c/p with their daughter. C/p wanted a report because she did not want any issues with being in contempt of court.
Officer was dispatched to Dairy Queen in reference to an anti-deportation protest and one of the protestors yelling at them. C/p advised they went to DQ, and two Hispanic subjects walked inside and confronted them, and a verbal altercation transpired. The Hispanic male put the Mexican flag in c/p’s face and called them racist. It was determined that the c/p’s were the instigators.
February 9
Officer was dispatched to Popeye’s in reference to a dispute. Offenders stated they dropped off a work excuse for an employee who had been at the hospital and the manager and complainant got rude with them and fired the employee because she was being written up again. Offender stated a verbal altercation took place and they went outside to wait for officers. C/p stated offender has been written up multiple times and she felt the need to go ahead and fire her and they began to argue, and she was threatened with a tire iron.
Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated her mother’s ex-boyfriend has her handgun and will not return it and stopped answering his phone after their last conversation about stating he would return it. Officer made contact with offender who stated the gun had been at his house, but he could not find it. Offender was informed that if he did not return it, it would be reported as stolen, and he would be listed as the person who stole it.
February 10
Officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign and turn without signaling for an approaching vehicle, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer noticed in plain view a large white substance suspected to be crack cocaine in the vehicle. Driver revealed a burnt glass pipe on his person. A search of the vehicle uncovered small white rocks in the driver seat, a small plastic bag of cocaine, four brunt glass crack pipes, a machete and a 9mm handgun. Both were arrested and transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer took a walk-in report where complainant stated someone damaged her rear bumper while at work.
Officer went to UPS for the purpose of collecting a parcel with suspected marijuana inside. Inside were two foil bags containing marijuana.
Officer observed a vehicle passing another vehicle in a no-passing zone, at which time he initiated a traffic stop. Officer could smell alcoholic beverage, and the driver came back wanted from two different agencies. PBT was performed and tested positive. Offender was transported to EmCo Jail.
Officer was dispatched to Lewis St. in reference to a dispute. Complainant advised she and her sister got into an argument and offender was making aggressive statements towards her.
Officer was dispatched to King Cir. in reference to damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, c/p stated that she parked her car at her sister’s house and left with another person. Upon her return, she noticed damage to her vehicle as if someone had hit it with another vehicle.
February 11
Officer was behind a vehicle and observed it increase speed quickly and fail to maintain lane, at which time he initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to stop, continuing not to maintain lane and running stop signs. Vehicle finally pulled into a residence on Watson St. and the driver and passenger got out and ran. One offender was found and transported to EmCo Jail and warrants were taken out for the other offender.
Officer was dispatched to North Main Street in reference to a report. C/p stated that while he was home, he observed a truck next door. He later noticed his ATV was missing out of his yard. He asked the man next door if he had the ATV, and he said no. C/p stated he acted a little weird but he could not prove that he had the ATV.
Officer conducted a traffic stop in reference to an expired/suspended registration on a vehicle. There was also no insurance on the vehicle. She was advised that someone needed to come pick her up. She called for a ride and the vehicle was towed. Two citations were written.
Officer was waved down by a pedestrian on a bicycle on Mable Ave. C/p stated that he went to check his balance at the bank, and he forgot his card. When he returned, he was advised that his card had been shredded. The bank stated that it’s their policy to shred debit cards that had been lost and turned in.
Officer was dispatched to Victory Dr. in reference to a call regarding an unruly juvenile. Upon arrival, c/p stated that her son refused to listen to her and was very violent and destructive. She stated he got mad at her for taking the phone away while at the doctor’s office and would repeatedly come in and out of the door and slam it. He has also made violent threats towards his younger sibling.
Officer was dispatched to North Main Street. Upon arrival, c/p stated that she has a rental property that her brother and his girlfriend have lived at since 2022. She stated that she spoke with her brother on Saturday to retrieve some photo albums from the home, but she never heard back from him. She arrived at the residence and was notified by a neighbor that her brother had not lived at the residence for over two months. C/p stated that the bedroom set, a television, two China cabinets, and the kitchen table was missing.
Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to the driver having a suspended license. The driver had not been notified of the suspension and was released to his mother.
Officer responded to Walmart in reference to an unwanted person. Contact was made with the individual and he was trespassed from the business.
Officer was dispatched to Lewis Street in reference to a call about stolen money. Upon arrival, officer was approached by c/p who stated that he was given a ride to the store to get his check cashed. When arriving back to his house, the driver asked him for gas money and snatched money out of his hand. The driver stated that she never took any money from c/p, that he gave her $5 for gas and tried to get her inside the residence to sleep with him.
Officer was dispatched to South Main Street in reference to c/p attempting to locate a missing wallet using an Apple Air tag. The wallet was located in a trash can in the men’s restroom with $80 cash missing.
February 13
Officer responded to Durden Road in reference to a report of two dogs attacking c/p’s chihuahua. C/p stated that her daughter woke her up to tell her that two dogs were attacking their dog. The dog was badly injured, and animal control was dispatched.
Officer was advised that a subject with multiple warrants was in the parking lot of the police station. Offender was arrested.
Officer was dispatched to West Main Street in reference to a white male that left probation and seemed highly intoxicated. Offender stated that he was having problems with substance abuse and was supposed to be going to rehab. Transport to a rehabilitation center picked him up and offender retrieved his personal belongings from his vehicle.
Officer was dispatched to Kite Road in reference to a man causing a disturbance in the hospital. Offender was escorted out and advised not to return.
Officer responded to South Main Street in reference to a male subject causing a disturbance. C/p stated that the man had been in the store since the early morning making racial slurs towards customers and causing a disturbance. The subject was approached and was recognized for causing disturbances in other stores over the past few days. Offender was placed under arrest.
Officer responded to a call regarding an unruly juvenile on 7th Street. C/p stated that her grandson had been misbehaving by lighting matches inside and throwing objects. She further stated that the juvenile was refusing to take his medication. The juvenile stated that he refused because his grandmother would not give him her phone to call his grandfather.
February 14
Officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that failed to stop at a stop sign. While approaching the vehicle, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted, and 8 grams of a green leafy substance was found. The passengers were removed from the vehicle when one of them was found to have an active arrest warrant. Officers also recovered another small bag of the same substance as before. Driver was issued a citation and warrants for possession and intent to distribute along with passengers receiving citations.
Officers were dispatched to South Main Street in reference to a call regarding shoplifting. C/p stated that a woman entered the store and walked out with items totaling up to $9.07.
