The Veterans at the Library held their weekly meeting at the Franklin Memorial Library Monday morning, January 13, at 9 a.m. With Chair Johnny Tapley presiding, they had 51 in attendance. The DAR, represented by Jane Durden, Jill Briercheck and Teresa Mason, provided breakfast consisting of breakfast casserole and sausage biscuits and Shari Watt provided orange juice, grape juice, apple juice, cranberry juice and coffee. Chair Johnny commented that all the Wreaths from Veteran’s graves were picked up Saturday, January 11, at 10 a.m. Chair John introduced the Swainsboro City Administrator Herman Middlebrooks who mentioned the passing of Retired Fire Chief Mike Strobridge and that he would be missed by this community. Middlebrooks introduced our new Swainsboro Fire Chief Alima Mims who discussed his vision of the City’s Fire Department and services to build on the late Chief Mike Strobridge’s accomplishments. The next meeting will be at Veteran Terry Reynolds’ clubhouse, Mont Royal, on Monday, January 20, and he will be providing breakfast. Veteran Emory Fennell closed out with a prayer.
