In just five short months, a freshman at Augusta University has not only captured the spotlight but has completely redefined what it means to be a leader on campus. Quintus Williams, a rising star majoring in Mass Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations, and minoring in Political Science and Education, Swainsboro High School Class of 2024 Honor Graduate, Southeastern Technical College Class of 2023 Honor Graduate, is proving that the future is bright—and it starts right now.
Mr. Williams, “The ELITE Alumni”, as some call him, has taken the campus by storm, making history as the first-ever freshman to compete for and win the coveted title of Mr. Augusta University, marking a monumental milestone in the university’s legacy. But it doesn’t end there. Williams made history in grand fashion by sweeping the competition and securing People’s Choice, Onstage Question, and Talent—yes, a clean sweep. Not only did he win, but he made it look effortless, commanding the stage with a presence and confidence that few could match.
But Quintus Williams isn’t just a titleholder; he’s a force. A dedicated, determined, and hard-working individual who doesn’t just represent himself—he represents his alma mater and his roots. Williams has consistently demonstrated his gratitude and commitment to the community that helped shape him. He returned to Swainsboro High School to volunteer with the Lady Tigers Basketball Team, a heartfelt gesture to his former coach, Alexandria Walden, who gave him an opportunity that many others wouldn’t have. Williams credits her with helping him find his path, saying, “She gave me a chance when so many others would not, and for that, I am forever grateful.”
So, how did Williams manage to take control of Augusta University in just five months? The answer lies in two key pieces of advice from his mentors that continue to guide him today. His former high school principal, Mr. Brandon Andrews, instilled in him the powerful words: “They don’t know my story, so they can’t dictate my glory.” Additionally, Williams carries with him the wisdom of his former guidance counselor, Ms. Monica Pace, who told him: “Make them know your name. Make them remember your name. Make them know who you are. Stand on business and get it done.” These words fuel his every step and have become the foundation of his unstoppable drive.
Since claiming the title of Mr. Augusta University, Williams has also made history as Zeta Tau Alpha’s Mr. Congeniality, earning recognition not only for his charm and kindness but also for his unparalleled achievements in Walk with a Sister, Talent, Onstage Question, and Evening Wear. It’s a double-title win that has set him apart as one of the most dynamic individuals to ever grace the university’s campus.
Williams’ influence extends far beyond the pageant stage. He made history once again by becoming the first-ever freshman to host the Multicultural Student Engagement Unity Talent Show, where he didn’t just host—he competed, proving his versatility and commitment to every aspect of university life. Whether it’s on stage or behind the scenes, Williams is making an indelible mark.

His dedication doesn’t stop there. He is involved in an impressive list of organizations that speak volumes about his work ethic and passion for service. As a member of the Rotaract Club, Royalty Court, and the African American Male Initiative, Williams is not only shaping his own future but also helping to create a stronger, more unified campus for all students. He also serves as the Pre-Law Community Outreach Chair for the 2024-2025 academic year and is an active participant in the Learning Leadership Living Community, Connections Are Everything Book Club, and The CREW. He’s a Jags for Jags Mentorship Program member and a participant in the Student Culinary Council.
His commitment to excellence was further recognized when he was awarded the Fall 2024 AAMI Mentee Key to the Campus and named an Augusta University Influencer. He has also received a Certificate of Training Completion in Cyber Awareness, adding yet another accomplishment to his already impressive résumé.
But Williams isn’t stopping here. Spring 2025 will see the launch of his very own student organization, Melanated Melodies, which aims to create a platform for Black voices and talents at Augusta University. With such a bold vision, it’s no surprise that Williams has already carved out a legacy that will inspire future generations of students to reach higher and dream bigger.
In a message to his peers, Williams offers this empowering advice:
“When some doors close, don’t get discouraged, because hallways will begin to open. Roads that you never think you will be able to travel will begin to form. In rooms that you never thought you would be qualified to step in, you will be qualified. Believe in yourself. Stay focused. Stay true.”
Reflecting on his journey, Williams adds, “I thank and give all glory to God, my mother Denise Williams, my grandmother Bertha Howard, and my entire family for believing in me and encouraging me to keep going!”
Quintus Williams is not just making waves—he is shaping the future and representing his alma mater in the most powerful, impactful way possible. With his dedication, hard work, and resilience, Williams is positioning himself to be a leader not just at Augusta University but in the world beyond. And, as his journey unfolds, one thing is clear: The best is yet to come.
