Mr. Ronald Craig Cannady, Sr., age 88, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024, in his home in LaGrange surrounded by his loving family and friends when Jesus called him to live in eternal peace. Funeral service will be Friday, August 2, at 11 a.m. at Striffler- Hamby Funeral Home with Pastor Cade Farris officiating. The family will receive guests at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Ryan Cannady, Peter Crawford, Patrick Johnson, Victor Kary, Andrew Shackelford and Jonathan Tanner. Honorary pallbearers are Ross Young, Joe Tanner, Gene Mashlan, Tony Westley, Kurt Jaeger Sr., Wayne Hadden, Chris Joseph and Dennis Parker.
Ronald was born March 1, 1936, in Chauncey, born to Cpl. William Claude Cannady (Nov. 15, 1899, Graymont Summit, Emanuel Co., GA – Sept. 15, 1947, Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL) and Carrie Frances, which she changed to Frances Carolyn Smith (Dec.17, 1912, Chauncey, Dodge Co., GA – July 15, 1985, Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL). Mr. Cannady is preceded in death by his beautiful and loving wife of 55 years, Irene Evelyn Wilson Cannady (Sept. 04, 1937, Wyandotte, MI – Sept. 17, 2011, LaGrange, Troup Co., GA); parents; sister, Claudia Carole Cannady – Babbitt – Golden (Dec 30, 1939 – Jan 03, 2022, Jacksonville, Duval Co., FL); brother-in-law, John Henry Golden (Sept 12, 1932 Birmingham, AL – May 08, 2001 Jacksonville, FL); niece, Tina Maria Babbitt (March 28, 1965 Jacksonville, FL – April 25, 2001 Fruit Cove, FL); and many dear Smith and Cannady aunts, uncles and cousins.
Surviving is his daughter, Stephanie Kim Cannady; sons, Ronald Craig Cannady II (Julie Nivens) and Michael Eugene Cannady; grandchildren, Marissa Wilson Cannady, Ryan Craig Cannady, Macy Julia Burns (fiancé Andrew Shackelford), Timothy Michael Cannady (Anna), Kathryn Alyce Cannady (Marius), Danielle Marie Cannady and Michael Austin Cannady; great-granddaughters, Virginia Evelyn Cannady and Madeline Kate Cannady; niece, Frances Carolyn Babbitt-Johnson (Patrick); nephew, Joseph Babbitt; great-nieces, Courtney Shea Johnson and Callie Alexandra Johnson; great-grandniece, Tully Maria Johnson; and a special mention of Peter Crawford who lovingly cared for RC like a son.
