Senior Eagle Billy Martin signs with the Mercer University Bears Football Team

On Thursday, April 18, David Emanuel Academy held a ceremony as Senior Eagle Billy Martin signed his Letter of Intent to play football for the Mercer University Bears. Mercer University is a NCAA Division 1 institution and competes in the Southern Conference. Joining in the celebration were Martin’s classmates, coaches, friends and family. The ceremony included speeches by Head of School Haylee Free, current Athletic Director and football coach Clint Inman and incoming Athletic Director and current basketball coach Daniel Flowers. Each one that spoke focused on Billy’s work ethic, passion and drive which has made this opportunity available for him. Billy says, “I am thankful to God for blessing me throughout my life and to everyone who has supported me along the way.” Billy is excited to be joining the Mercer Bears in Macon this summer. While at Mercer, he plans to major in Civil Engineering. Billy is the son of Will and Allison Martin of Kite, Georgia.
