The ECI baseball team completed their region schedule last week, winning all three games to complete their sweep of region opponents for the second consecutive year. ECI breezed through the region outscoring their opponents 154-7 with a perfect 12-0 record. The Bulldogs completed the region schedule defeating Montgomery Co. on Monday and taking both games in the double header in Mt. Vernon on Wednesday. The Bulldogs outscored the Eagles 45-2 in the series. ECI teed off on Montgomery pitching with 40 hits, including seven doubles and one homerun. The Bulldog pitching staff also picked up two no hitters in the series.
The Bulldogs hosted Montgomery on Monday, April 8, taking the game in four innings 15-0. Before the Monday game, the Bulldogs recognized their four seniors. Honored for their four-year career as a Bulldog were seniors Andew Chalkley, Aden McQuaig, Charlie Rehberg and Hudson Henry. Getting multiple hits in the game were Hudson Henry with three hits, and Charlie Rehberg and Aden McQuaig with two. Andrew Chalkley went the distance with an-other no hitter, allowing just one walk with five strikeouts.
Wednesday the Bulldogs were in Mt. Vernon for the double header against the Eagles. The first game was over in the bottom of the first inning. The Bulldogs sent 17 batters to the plate in the inning, scoring 13 runs, and won the game in three innings, 18-0. Combining for the Bulldogs’ second consecutive no hit game were Charlie Rehberg and Gabe Lee who yielded just one walk each to the Eagles. Lee, Henry, Ab Marsh and McQuaig were the multiple hit-ters for the Bulldogs with two hits each. The Bulldogs completed the sweep, defeating the Eagles 12-2 in the second game of the double header. Tuff Boddiford led the offense with three hits including a homerun. Rehberg, Jackson Kennedy and Ab Marsh ended the game with two hits each. James Parker toed the rubber for three innings allowing just three hits while striking out six. Boddiford threw for two innings, with no hits, striking out five Eagle batters. Jackson Kennedy closed the game the last two innings giving up three hits with three strikeouts.
The Bulldogs have three games on tap this week to close out the regular season. Today they are hosting Savannah Christian and will travel to Jefferson Co. on Thursday to close out the regular season with a doubleheader against the Warriors.
