The ECI Middle School baseball team played in the annual Citizens Bank Invitational last weekend.
The young Dawgs came away winning both games against Swainsboro and Jenkins Co. The offense and pitching were running on all cylinders, defeating Swainsboro 11-3 and Jenkins Co. 13-3. Judson Underwood started on the mound for the Bulldogs against the Tigers pitching the first four innings. Underwood yielded just one hit while striking out 8 Swainsboro batters. Jacob Hughes closed out the final three innings giving up four hits while striking out six Tigers. Leading hitters for ECI were Underwood 3-4 with a HR and double, TJ Weaver 2-4, and Hane Henry 1-3 with three RBI.
The second game had the Bulldogs facing Jenkins Co., defeating the Eagles 13-3. The Bulldogs used three pitchers holding the Eagles to seven hits and three runs. Jack Lee started the game going 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits, with two strikeouts. Bently Collins stood on the mound for two innings allowing two hits with a strikeout. Hane Henry closed out the game giving up just one hit while striking out two Eagle batters. Leading hitters against the Eagles were Hughes, 2-3, four RBI with a double, William Kennedy, 1-3, one RBI and Lawson Frye 1-3 with one RBI.
