East Georgia State College’s (EGSC) Annual Family and Friends Fun Day was held on Saturday, September 30 on the campus of EGSC-Swainsboro. EGSC faculty, staff, students, and the community were invited to enjoy the free event.
The event offered fun for the entire family including bounce houses, games, and the Bobcat Regatta. The Bobcat Regatta is a competition made up of teams who build boats out of cardboard and duct tape – nothing else! The team that crossed Ezra Pond the fastest and placed first was EGSC’s Art Mania Club. The Uncommon Cru placed second in the competition and EGSC’s African American Male Initiative (AAMI) Program placed third.
A sidewalk chalk art contest was also held during the event. The winners of the competition were selected by a panel of judges. The first-place winner was Tmyra Peterson. Aisha Colbert received the second-place award, and Kennedy Coleman placed third in the competition. Tmyra and Aisha are both studying art at EGSC. Last year’s first place winner and this year’s first place winner are both from Stillmore, Georgia, a small town with a residency of notable artists and EGSC connections.
East Georgia State College would like to thank the community for attending the Family and Friends Fun Day event. To view photos from the event, visit www.ega.edu and click on this story to view the photo album link.
