Sharon Y. Phillips, 61, entered into eternal peace on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Wellstar MCG Health formerly Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 31 at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Lexsy with Elder Delmus Mosley, Sr and Rev. Dr. Mario D. Webb, Sr officiating.
Sharon was born on September 7, 1962. She was the daughter of the late Mr. H.S. Phillips, Jr. and the late Mrs. Mattie Mae (McCloud) Phillips. She retired from Savannah River Plant after 34 years of service. She was a 1980 graduate of Emanuel County Institute and 1981 graduate of Swainsboro Technical College. Sharon was a faithful member of the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she served with admirable service in the Mission and as lead singer and treasurer in JB’s Gospel Singers. She also served as a lead singer in the Evening Stars for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wanda A. Phillips.
She is survived by: her devoted sister, Karen K. Phillips of Hephzibah, Georgia; one devoted nephew, Shaun D. (Banita) Phillips of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a loving aunt, Rose L. (John) Davis of Akron, Ohio; two loving uncles, Leroy (Sylvia) Phillips of Stillmore, Georgia, and Elliot Dave McCloud of Macon, Georgia; spiritual sisters, Eleanor Williams-Taylor of Macon, Georgia, Jeanette Mincey of Swainsboro, Georgia, and Johnnie Mae (Willie) Gordon of Stillmore, Georgia; spiritual brother, Vincent (Darline) Brantley of Swainsboro, Georgia; two godsons, Kevin Gibson of Statesboro Georgia, and Quinton Byrd of Georgia; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Mosley’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
