Swainsboro High School’s Demello Jones officially signed with the University of Georgia to play football Dec. 20, with his family alongside him. Jones made his commitment to UGA back in March of this year, and as all recruits do signed his National Letter of Intent, on National Signing day. Swainsboro packed it out to watch, Jones’ teammates, coaches, friends, and family all showed up for the occasion. The Senior has completed high school and will join the Bulldogs on campus in Athens come the spring semester. Jones had quite the career at Swainsboro playing football, basketball, and running track. The four-star played in two state championship games in football, totalling four touchdowns in the second. He totaled 4,530 all-purpose yards and 61 touchdowns in his offensive career. On the defensive side, he had 136 tackles. He was a leader on and off the field. He did it all for the Tigers and will always be remembered as a legend at Swainsboro. Not only did he dominate on the football field, he was also a part of the Boys 4×100 Meter relay State title team in 2022. Cemello’s presence will be missed both on and off the field, but we know he will continue to make Swainsboro proud as he enters the next chapter of his life. Good luck to you Demello!
