In a joint ceremony, Southeastern Technical College (STC) pinned the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) Traditional Pathway Option graduates from the Vidalia campus and the Practical Nursing (PN) Swainsboro campus graduates on December 10, 2024, in Vidalia’s Toombs Auditorium.
“It is my honor to welcome you all to this incredibly special occasion,” spoke ASN Instructor Eric Burch, “Today marks the culmination of many hours of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, and it is a moment to be remembered for years to come.”
This tribute is to the commitment these graduates make to the medical field of nursing, representing the compassion, resilience, and unwavering care that defines the heart of nursing. Their readiness to enter a profession requires not only the theoretical and clinical skills, but also requires empathy, humility and a deep commitment to those who will be in their care.

ASN graduate Chasity Hamilton expressed her gratitude and stated, “If you are here today and you are one of the family members or friends, and we’ve checked your blood pressure, your pulse, listened to your lungs a thousand and one times, pat yourself on the back for getting us here. Congratulations to the graduates. You did it! You put in the hard work. You deserve to be celebrated.”
Students crossed the stage to receive their pin as their names were called, and together as a class, lit candles to signify Florence Nightingale’s legacy of lighting of the lamp and recited the nurse’s pledge of service – signifying their entrance into their new ranks.
Students have earned a seat to take the state licensure exam to become licensed and registered nurses.
