2024 Ferst Readers Book Character contest winners

Emanuel County Ferst Readers sponsored a virtual fundraiser to get books into the homes of children under five living in Emanuel County. Local “celebrities” asked for you to donate to Ferst Readers by casting a vote for them. Every $4 vote you make will provide another book for a child, so vote as many times as you like and for as many characters as you like.

Fourteen Book Characters raised money for Emanuel County Ferst Readers. The books get mailed to the homes along with an activity page for parents to teach their child literacy and vocabulary skills. This “come in mail” program gets children excited about books and supports the love of reading.

There are children in Emanuel County who do not have age-appropriate books in the home and many who do not attend preschool. This is a setback for those little ones when they start kindergarten. Family Connection wanted to play a part in preventing that by getting children enrolled in Ferst Readers and raising the money for this program that is free to the families.

The 2024 Ferst Readers Book Character winners are 1st Place Cayla Scarboro as Scooby-Doo with 1,236 votes, 2nd Place Ann Rogers as the Genie from Aladdin with 401 votes and 3rd Place Petite Garrett as Snow White with 390 votes. The grand total for donations collected was $10,336. Thank you to all Characters and Donors!
